Four NEW Googan Squad baits just dropped right in time for summer. Create explosive topwater eats with the Wake Banger, get your multi-species action on with the Rip, or whip out the spinning rods to get micro sizes of the Filthy Frog and Zinger in action.

First up we have the Wake Banger, a wake bait that is perfect for generating explosive topwater eats in the summertime shallows. The Wake Banger has the same body and sticky sharp Mustad hooks as the standard Banger, but the Wake Banger's square bill has a sharp downward angle. This prevents the bait from diving more than an inch or two in the water, and creates a large wake on the surface as it bullies its way around the shallows.

Fish the Wake Banger around any obvious shallow ambush spots with a steady retrieve. These could be shallow flats with wood, main lake or secondary points, along laydowns, weed edges, or even docks. It is a treble hooked bait, so you'll want to keep it near cover but not in it. Any casting rod appropriate for treble hooks, like the Googan Squad Reaction Casting Rod, will be a great option. Since it is a topwater, opt for monofilament line in the 12-15lb range. The Wake Banger comes in one size, and 11 proven colors.

Next up is the Googan Squad Rip, a blade bait that is sure to be a year-round multi species killer. Coming in at 2" and 1/2oz, the Rip is offered in 6 colors and is a perfect imitation for small baitfish. It has multiple line tie locations to adjust the action to your liking. The closer you tie to the head of the bait, the more vibration you'll have when retrieving.

Blade baits like the Rip are often fished along the bottom by using short pulls of the rod tip to hop it along. Alternative ways that are also very effective include yo-yoing through open water like you work a lipless crankbait, or vertically jigging the bait near structure. It is a very versatile bait that allows you many different presentations depending on the bottom composition, water temperature, and the species you are targeting. Bass, walleye, trout, perch, crappie, white bass, and more will all take a liking to the Rip, experimentation will lead you to the best cadence for the day!

When selecting gear, you'll want to choose a spinning rod like the Googan Squad Finesse Spinning Rod. Pair it with 10-15lb fluorocarbon line (lean heavier if you're fishing in a snaggy area) and you'll be good to go!

Here to pack a big punch in a small size, the Micro Filthy Frog is the newest size addition to the Googan Squad best selling Filthy Frog. This Micro size is a compact 1. 75" long, but weighs 1/4oz and will be able to be launched far with the appropriate spinning rod setup. This Micro size has all the great features as the larger sizes, but comes in a size more appropriate for small bodies of water or anglers that prefer spinning rods.

Perfect for pond or creek fishing, this micro size will effectively imitate very young frogs that can be all over the shallows in the summer. A perfect bass snack! To effectively fish this size over the same nasty slop and lily pads, you'll want to opt for a spinning rod like the Googan Squad Go-To Spinning Rod. Pairing this with 10-30lb braided line will ensure you have the casting distance to launch this guy out there, and enough muscle to set the hook and bring in bass through any vegetation they may be hiding in.

Last but not least we have the a Micro size coming to the ever-popular Googan Squad Zinger. This Micro size comes with a single Colorado blade for thump and flash, and an 1/8oz size that will be perfect for any pond and creek angler. This size has the same hand tied skirt and double bait keeper as its larger siblings, but comes in 9 colors to have more offerings for multi species anglers that will use this Micro size.

The beauty in this bait is in the simplicity, as no trailer is needed along with a slow and steady retrieve. Fish this Zinger anywhere you would normally fish a spinnerbait, especially around shallow cover like laydowns or rocky banks. The small size will be enticing enough to any pond-dwelling predators like bass or crappie.

Use this Micro Zinger with 10-20lb braided line, or you can use 8-12lb fluorocarbon or monofilament line. Due to the light weight, you'll want to choose a finesse spinning rod to ensure proper casting distance. The Googan Squad Finesse Spinning Rod is our choice.

Stock up on all the fresh gear and give the fish something they've never seen!
